Louis Vuitton ventures into esports with League of Legends.
French fashion house and luxury item retail, Louis Vuitton is entering the esports world by collaborating with the video game developer, Riot Games for the 2019 League of Legends (LoL) World Championship.
The global partner of the gaming competition will collaborate in the design and creation of the one-of-a-kind trophy case for the Summoner’s Cup, the trophy awarded to tournament championship.
Addtionally, Louis Vuitton will debut unique championship skins for players’ characters, a capsule collection designed by the company’s artistic director of women’s collections Nicolas Ghesquière and more digital content to be revealed at a later date.
Naz Aletaha, head of global esports partnerships at Riot Games said:
“This is a historic partnership that speaks to the impact Riot Games and League of Legends has had on the industry over the past nine esports seasons. We welcome the LV brand to our sport and we are eager to share the entire scope of the partnership in the months ahead.”
Although Louis Vuitton has previously done similar for trophies awarded to the winners of the French Open tennis grand slam and the America’s Cup sailing race, this deal marks the first time they have created a case for an esports trophy.
The 2019 League of Legends World Championship will begin on October 2 in Berlin and end on November 10 in Paris.
